Harishchandra Ghat is one of the Burning Ghats of Varanasi, where the dead are cremated day and night on the bank of the Ganges river.­

The corpse of the deceased is wrapped in a shroud.­ You can see the head (in the yellow shroud).­

The corpse is burned on a funeral pyre, until only ashes remain.­ Then, the ashes are thrown in the Ganges river.­ The process takes about 3 hours.­
