enjoy your ride, don't commit suicide - road sign (india)

"Enjoy your ride, don't commit suicide" sign on the road to Darjeeling (India)

The funny part is that shortly after this sign, the road comes to an abrupt end due to a major landslide that happened in June 2010.

View my photos of the broken road and landslide.

This sign obviously predates this landslide.

Although this sign is not signed, it looks very much like an old sign from BRO (the Border Roads Organisation), that built the mountains roads and bridges in West Bengal.

Photos taken in India in 2013

The highlight if this trip was the Maha Kumba Mela Hindu Festival, the largest human gathering on earth, which happens once every 12 years.

Other regions visited include the springs of the Ganges river, Varanasi, the Konark sun temple.

See also my photos of Nepal that I took the same year.

The Border Roads Organisation builds and maintains the roads and bridges in the mountainous border regions of India.

They are famous for their interesting road signs promoting safe driving on dangerous mountain roads.
