Overturned truck (India)

Workers are recovering the coal that the truck was transporting.

The driver fell asleep the previous night. He was not seriously injured in the accident.

The wheels and axles have already been disassembled. The owner of the truck told me that the frame was bent, so they would recover everything they can from this truck (including the engine of course), and mount it on a new frame.

Photos of traffic accidents on the roads of India and Nepal.

Most accidents involve overturned trucks.

Approximately 140,000 people die from traffic accidents every year in India.

The swastika (卐) is a Hindu symbol of auspiciousness or good luck, and it is painted on almost all trucks in India, as a good luck charm to protect against traffic accidents. Its efficiency is not scientifically proven :)

Photos taken in India in 2013

The highlight if this trip was the Maha Kumba Mela Hindu Festival, the largest human gathering on earth, which happens once every 12 years.

Other regions visited include the springs of the Ganges river, Varanasi, the Konark sun temple.
