La Virgen de Guadalupe - Our Lady of Guadalupe - Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe - Sculpture in San Francisco Church (Salta, Argentina)

It looks like the angel or cherub on which she is standing has black horns, but in fact this represent a moon crescent.­ The moon is a symbol very often seen with the Virgin Mary in Latin America, because as one of the important symbols in the local indigenous pagan rituals, it was incorporated in local Christian imageries.­
