Turboprop Propeller in Feathered Pitch Position

Propeller of the small ATR-72 turboprop plane that I took to fly from Kota Kinabalu to Mulu National Park (Borneo).

On this photo, the propeller is in “feathered” pitch position.

The propeller is generally placed in feather when the engine is off, to minimize drag when taxiing. The feather position is also used in case of engine failure.
