Security at the Mulu airport is a bit of a joke.­

Past the security checkpoint and X-ray screening, there is a souvenir shop (in the secure boarding area) where anyone can buy traditional Penan machetes like this one.­

Those are the real machete, with very sharp blades, that are used everyday by local Penan villagers to cut trails in the jungle.­

I think this defeats the point of having security screening with an X-ray machine and a metal detector if you can buy a weapon after going through security, and take it on board!
