mien yao/dao tribe woman with impressive headwear - vietnam

Mien Yao/Dao tribe woman with impressive headwear (Mèo Vac, Vietnam)

The teeth covered with gold-like metal indicate that this woman is married. It's convenient: as soon as the woman or teenage girl smiles, you know if she is single or not! Girls from ethnic minorities (i.e. tribes) marry at about 14 or 15 years of age.

See more smiles with golden teeth!.

Photos of Vietnam tribe women with gold teeth.

The healthy teeth covered with gold indicate that the woman is married. It's the equivalent of a wedding ring.

It's convenient: as soon as the woman or teenage girl smiles, you know if she is single or not!

Photos of people from the "Mien Yao/Dao" tribe (Vietnam).

Thanks to Pamela A Cross from www.tribaltextiles.info for her help in identifying this tribe.

Pamela A Cross wrote: The style of headdress, plucked eyebrows and plucked forehead, the rectangular silver plaque with stars below the neck (and the style of chain), and the trousers or pants they appear to be wearing, all suggest that they are they are Mien Yao/Dao. The tunic embroidery although very garish is typically Mien Yao.
