It is the occasion of large street parades and other festivities by the Muslim male population (Muslim women are not allowed to participate in those public festivities).­

Allahu Akbar!

This is the celebration of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, Prophet Muhammad's Birthday.­

Milad un-Nabi is a gazetted holiday in India and is also known as Nabi Day and Mawlid.­ It is the occasion of large parades by the Muslim population.­

Actually, only Muslim men are parading in the street.­ Muslim women are not allowed to participate in those public festivities.­

The highlight if this trip was the Maha Kumba Mela Hindu Festival, the largest human gathering on earth, which happens once every 12 years.­

Other regions visited include the springs of the Ganges river, Varanasi, the Konark sun temple.­
