The Yamuna is the largest tributary river of the Ganges. It meets the Ganges at the Sangam near Allahabad, site of the largest human gathering on Earth, the Hindu Kumbh Mela festival.

High in the Yamuna valley, Yamunotri is an important Hindu pilgrimage destination.
