Dyed cotton skeins drying on wooden sticks in Bhaktapur (Nepal)

This cotton is specially used to knit a special Newari dress called hakku patasi.

The Newā people or Newārs are the indigenous people of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and the creators of its historic civilization.

In the back, there is a Pati adjoining a small temple. In Nepali language, those ubiquitous communal platforms with a roof, where people can sit and rest, are called "Pati".

In the old city of Bhaktapur (Nepal), people live the same traditional way they were living hundreds years ago. Except for a few motorcycles and electric wires, nothing has changed for centuries.

Bhaktapur is one of the Royal Cities of Nepal, located about 10 Km East of Kathmandu.
