Yamuna is the largest tributary river of the Ganges.­

The Yamuna river originates from a Glacier higher up in the mountain, but in winter, the water of the Yamuna flows under the snow and ice and emerges here, just near Yamunotri.­

The Yamuna is the largest tributary river of the Ganges.­ It meets the Ganges at the Sangam near Allahabad, site of the largest human gathering on Earth, the Hindu Kumbh Mela festival.­

High in the Yamuna valley, Yamunotri is an important Hindu pilgrimage destination.­

The highlight if this trip was the Maha Kumba Mela Hindu Festival, the largest human gathering on earth, which happens once every 12 years.­

Other regions visited include the springs of the Ganges river, Varanasi, the Konark sun temple.­
