I caught Salmonellosis by eating an undercooked chicken sate on a street food stand in a small village in Northern Sulawesi Island, Indonesia

I became very sick with severe diarrhea, and unable to ride my motorbike. The owner of the small guest house where I was spending the night was super nice and he drove me to a small clinic in the area, where they kept me with an IV of saline solution for a couple of days, to keep me hydrated. Then I was well enough to ride again but quite tired, and it took me a week to fully recover.

I learned my lesson: Do NOT eat undercooked chicken street food!
