The fruit of the Oil Palm - Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
You can see the inside of the fruits that have been cut. The kernel (white) is also used to produce a different type of oil (palm kernel oil).
Sadly, in the North of Sulawesi, large parcels of flat coastal land is getting deforested (by burning down the jungle), and turned into oil palm plantations.
Oil palm monoculture is very bad for bio-diversity, both by destroying the jungle vegetation diversity, and by causing loss of habitat for many animal species.
