Took me a while to figure out what this thing is!

In Indonesia, there are types of double cabin cars as public transportation. In Surabaya it is known as ANGGUNA. Even though it uses the Mitsubhisi Jetstar brand, it has the Daihatsu hijet 1000 engine.

Angguna is a type of public transportation unique to the city of Surabaya , namely a type of multi-purpose taxi not on routes , which operates in a limited area in Surabaya and its surroundings.

The word Angguna itself is short for "angkutan serbaguna" (multipurpose transportation), which means that the vehicle can be used for passenger transportation, goods transportation, or both. Angguna has been operating in this city since April 13, 1988 replacing the helicak operations which were limited by the Surabaya City Government.

Unlike today's public transportation, Angguna has a unique shape. Angguna is a motorized vehicle in the form of a yellow Mitsubishi plaustra which is modified into a double cabin vehicle, leaving the trunk in the form of an open body resembling a pickup. Another uniqueness lies in setting rates using a bidding system. However, Angguna's existence is shrinking day by day as if swallowed up by the times. Now, Angguna is designated as a historical relic, one of which is used as a display collection at the Surabaya Museum , first floor of the Siola Building.

The existence of Angguna in the city of Surabaya is now being eroded by the times. At the beginning of its operation in 1988, one hundred Angguna units were widely used by the community, especially those with middle to lower economic levels. During its heyday in 1992, the number of operating units reached 150 units. However, after 2014, the number had shrunk drastically to less than ten units.

Based on data from the Surabaya Transportation Agency for 2017, the number of potential Angguna in this city has reached 338 units. In fact, the number of Angguna that took care of the "kir" test in 2017 was only seven units. However, only four of the seven units pass the test and are fit for operation. In 2022, it will be very difficult to find an Angguna unit operating in this city. Some units can sometimes still be found at their bases such as at the Purabaya Terminal or Ujung Baru. Its existence is now not a priority for many people, one of which is due to the increasing diversity of other modes of public transportation.
